Audio-Technica Debuts Crystal-Clear Turntable As Sleek As Your Love Of Music
By Nicole Rodrigues, 07 Nov 2022
Audio-Technica is turning 60 this year, and to honor this milestone, the brand is releasing a special-edition AT-LP2022 turntable.
Unlike many on the market, this record player is entirely transparent and made from 30mm clear acrylic, making it look like an ice-cold sparkling crystal that can pump out some tunes.
It comes with an AT-VM95E stylus and a black shell, which can be swapped out for a limited-edition clear AT-VMN95SH Shibata stylus to match the aesthetic. However, if you choose to make the switch, be warned that it will change the sound of the music.
The gadget is fitted with a carbon fiber tonearm and a motor that uses sensors to play types of vinyl at 33 or 45 RPM.
As its chassis is placed upon a transparent acrylic anti-resonant platter, it’s unclear if there needs to be an intermediary felt mat placed between the plastic and the vinyl for it to work.
The device is belt-driven, and speeds can be controlled from a three-position rotary on the bottom of the platter that contains the motor.
Under the chassis are four adjustable feet to help you correctly set its height, as a tilted turntable will not produce the best sound quality.
The limited-edition transparent players are only limited to 3,000 pieces and will begin sales at US$1,200.
