Spam Crams Christmas Into A Tin With Its Own Festive ‘Figgy Pudding’
By Nicole Rodrigues, 17 Nov 2022
Spam is spreading joy this holiday season in the form of its new Figgy Pudding, which supposedly captures the taste of Christmas in a can.
For those unfamiliar with Figgy Pudding, it’s not just a line from We Wish You A Merry Christmas. It’s a traditional British dessert that’s best described as a cake soaked in brandy and seasonal spices and made with dried fruits.
Now, you may be wondering what connection it has to meat. The dish is actually made with suet or beef fat. However, in Spam’s case, it is not offering a cake in a tin. Instead, it has seasoned its traditional meat with the same spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, cloves, and fruits such as orange and, of course, figs, to give the dish a traditional British Christmas spin on it.
Spam’s website is also offering different recipes to help kickstart your holidays, including instructions to make skewers, charcuterie boards, and a Spiced Dutch Baby Pancake. And if you’re looking to spice up your Christmas dinner, the Figgy Pudding-flavored meat will be sold as a pack of two 12-ounce cans on Spam’s website, Amazon, and Walmart.
