Is shoveling several spoonfulls of cereal into your mouth too much of a hassle? If so, you might want to try just eating one. One incredibly large one, that is.
Leave it to MSCHF, the group responsible for those Satan Shoes, to think out of the cereal box and come up with a singular piece of Froot Loops (for legal reasons, this one is called a Big Fruit Loop). The new launch from the art collective is a cereal that will make you feel like you’ve been shot with a shrink ray when you hold it in your hands.
A single serving of a regular bowl of Kellogg’s Froot Loops—filled with tiny colorful circular pieces—comes in at one-and-three-quarter cups and contains 150 calories.
MSCHF’s The Big Fruit Loop, on the other hand, weighs half a pound and contains 930 calories, which means that should you take up the challenge, you can eat the whole thing.
According to Nerdbot, MSCHF reversed-engineered classic Froot Loops to match the exact taste of its version of the breakfast food.
Its serving suggestions on the box say “serving per container: 1” and “serving size: 1 big Fruit Loop”. On the back of the packaging is a traditional maze in the shape of the comically large cereal and MSCHF’s take on Wordle, ‘Birdle’.
In an email exchange with Food & Wine, MSCHF’s CEO Daniel Greenberg notes that there isn’t a major takeaway from this, unlike its other launches. The main reason behind the edible project is, quite simply, that a singular piece of cereal filling up the entire box is an idea too good not to milk.
As it goes, if you’re looking to upsize your mornings, the Big Fruit Loop will be available on December 19 on its website. Each box will set you back US$19.99, and unfortunately, you won’t be able to choose a color.
