KFC Serves Up ‘Popcorn Chicken’ For Playful Cats That Are Always Hungry
By Mikelle Leow, 19 Dec 2022
KFC has been working to ensure its menu is finger-lickin’ good for all—it even makes nuggets for vegans now. However, the fast-food chain has left out one mew-crative market. Cats aren’t technically allowed to enjoy its fried chicken due to its salt content.
Until now—well, kind of. KFC in China has teamed up with Shanghai-based pet furniture brand PURROOM to develop a “popcorn chicken” for feline friends. This time, fur parents can rest assured that these morsels are Kosher For Cats.
The toys are, of course, popcorn-shaped and look like little chickens, but they’re not just bits of eye candy. To tempt the four-legged Colonel in your life, each nugget is purrfectly filled with catnip leaves and a bell.
The catnip-flavored balls will arrive free with set meals ordered in-app or at restaurants in Shanghai for a limited time. There’s also something for pet parents: The toys are attached with fortune cookie-like new year wishes to ring in 2023.
Each serving comes in an assortment of yellow and white birds, so some poppers will look more toasted than others. That won’t matter to kitties, as the moreish pieces will all be paw-lickin’ good, nyantheless.
