House Of Representatives Bans TikTok On All Staff’s Mobile Devices
Whoops, it appears federal staff members will no longer be able to scroll through the ultra-addictive For You Page while on work mobile devices, as the US House of Representatives has moved to prohibit access to the social media platform from any gadget managed by the organization.
This measure comes as several states across the country have banned TikTok from state-owned devices, and lawmakers have put forth a bill that could see the popular network completely banished from the nation.
In an email seen by Reuters, employees were told that congresspersons and staffers alike would no longer be able to download the application on managed devices, while those who already have TikTok on their House phones will be asked to remove it.
The order, which came from the House’s Chief Administrative Officer, Catherine Szpindor, cited the Chinese-owned software as a “high risk to users due to a number of security risks.” A statement from the agency later confirmed the ban.
