Samsung Unveils Flexible Screen That Can Slide Open To Triple Its Size
At this year’s CES 2023 conference, Samsung came forward with its latest entry into the foldable screen market, a device that can not only unfold but also slide open to increase its viewing of real estate.
The Flex Hybrid OLED screen starts at a humble 4.2 inches wide, which makes it the perfect size to fit into a bag or a pocket. However, it can take on several new shapes as it unfolds first into a 10.5-inch display with an aspect ratio of 4:3. And if that’s not enough for you, it can go even further and slides out a further two inches into a 12.4-inch display and an increased aspect ratio of 16:10.
If you’re wondering where this extra couple of inches is hiding, the right side of the device houses the additional display, as it is much thicker on one side than the other.
So if this device ever hits the market, the days of squinting your eyes at a tiny screen while watching a movie or doing work. This portable device is bound to elevate your entertainment and work experience, especially as it is predicted to come with OLED capabilities, making viewing all the more pleasurable.
Unfortunately, there is no word on what the device can do besides watching movies, playing games, and doing work. Likewise, there is no news if it will act more as an incredibly decked-out phone or a versatile tablet. And since this is just a prototype, one can expect Samsung to build on this new technology over time.
