Nissan Showcases Convertible EV Concept That Lights Up In Different Neon Colors

Two years ago, Nissan announced it would be investing a whopping US$17.6 billion into developing a series of electric vehicles. It released a series of concept renders at the time, one of which depicted a two-seater sports car dubbed the Max-Out.
Now, the automaker has brought the Max-Out to life at the Nissan Futures event in Yokohama, Japan. Just like the image, the convertible comes with a sleek, futuristic look, complete with headlights and edges that light up in different neon colors akin to in a video game.
According to Engadget, the vehicle offers a mix of several sci-fi concepts, pulling from famed movies Tron and Avatar. Unfortunately, if you dream of cruising down the roads in the Max-Out, it’ll have to wait, as the company has no plans to mass produce the car anytime soon.
Nissan described the convertible as offering drivers “a liberating sense of openness” together with “an enhanced, dynamic driving experience.” When the car was first unveiled in 2021, the automaker pledged to launch 15 new electric vehicles (EVs) by the end of the decade.
As the publication noted, the firm is reportedly aiming for a market mix of 75% electrified vehicles in Europe and 40% in the United States and China by 2023. For now, drivers can opt for the Ariya, the brand’s first electric crossover, which hit the roads last year.
