Unopened iPhone From 2007 Originally Costs $599—Now May Sell For Over 8000% More

In 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the world to the very first iPhone, a revolutionary design that placed the internet into the pockets of thousands. 
 
When the device first hit the market, it had a 3.5-inch screen, a 2-megapixel camera, no app store, Safari web browser, and just 4GB or 8GB of storage. Its initial selling price was US$599.
 
At the time, many could not foresee how the iPhone would go on to change the way we live and the way we interact with each other. Such a historic piece of tech could now belong to one lucky buyer as a factory-sealed iPhone hits the auction block.
 
The phone in question once belonged to Karen Green, a cosmetic tattoo artist who was gifted the device from her friends back in 2007. Green, at the time, had three lines with Verizon thanks to a deal between Apple and AT&T. As she did not want to pay a fee to get rid of her other lines, she left it in its box, untouched for years to come.
 
She had considered selling it a few times, but it wasn’t until she saw it go on sale on eBay for over $10,000 that she realized she might also have an original in her possession.
 
In 2019 she went onto a daytime TV program called Doctor & The Diva, where the device was appraised to be worth US$5,000. Green held onto the device for a few more years before another factory-sealed phone sold for almost US$40,000. 
 
Just as that happened, she was starting her own tattoo parlor and needed funding. So that brings us back to the present day when she is now ready to sell the phone to support her business. 
 
Green is working with LCG Auctions and is currently taking bids from Apple diehards until February 19.
