This purse is not like your Louis Vuitton fortune cookie or Balenciaga Lay’s potato chip bag. It’s an homage to the Fendi-esque, baguette-shaped bags of the aughts that now appear to be making the dough and on the rise in the fashion world.
But utilitarians would posit: what good is a baguette bag if it can’t hold an actual long loaf? Panera Bread, a brand that actually has the carb in its name, has baked up a posh carrier that marries the best of both worlds. It’s called—wait for it—the ‘BAGuette’.
Swathed in a vibrant Panera green, the BAGuette bears stylistic elements
Panera isn’t just offering up the option to tote an iconic accessory around this New York Fashion Week, but it’s also designed the BAGuette to be “at the intersection of style and function.” Measuring 12 inches long, the literal baguette bag is optimized for carrying the bakery-café’s new Toasted Baguettes.
As with many luxury products, this embossed statement piece is limited-edition—although it warrants a much more affordable price of US$39.50, and it also comes with a gift card for edible baguettes. There are only 500 Panera BAGuette purses in the world.
Members in the MyPanera rewards program can also try their luck at scoring the exclusive piece by purchasing all three types of Toasted Baguette sandwiches by February 13.
