IKEA Recruits Relationship Therapists To Mitigate Couples’ Furniture Friction
By Mikelle Leow, 22 Feb 2023
IKEA’s home solutions, apparently, extend to creating harmonious relationships in your living space too. With the Valentine’s Day sizzle out of the way, the furniture giant is targeting the real, everyday aspects of long-term partnerships.
As anyone who has been in a serious relationship would know, tensions can easily arise from seemingly trivial debates about the right curtain color or the best sofa to snuggle up to in front of the television. That’s why, besides employees dressed in yellow and blue, IKEA has enlisted actual relationship therapists and counselors to bring resolution to these squabbles.
As part of Al-Futtaim IKEA’s new Couch Counseling campaign with advertising agency Impact BBDO, for a limited time, customers in Dubai can scan a QR code on in-store posters and price tags to book an appointment for a consultation.
During their session, couples can open up to their therapist about any relationship issues, including how to find peace with furniture choices.
The posters are just as interesting as the activation, pulling from real quotes heard from arguing couples. Take a look at the cheeky prints below.
