PANTONE Sneakers Embody First Signs Of Spring With Dusky, Nature-Esque Tones
By Mikelle Leow, 15 Mar 2023
PANTONE is stepping into the warmer months—and rather gently, too—with a trio of sneakers conveying the softer moments of spring.
Alluding to the earth’s changes as winter’s ice melts away, these refreshing styles by the color authority’s official sneaker partner, Cariuma, aren’t your typical spring palette of bright pinks, greens, and yellows.
Instead, they’re dusted in ‘French Oak’, ‘Withered Rose’, and ‘Tapestry’ teal, mirroring the early signs of vibrancy when Mother Nature peels back the layers of snow to make way for blooming flowers and awakening streams.
Most recently, Cariuma unleashed footwear set in the 2023 Color of the Year, Viva Magenta. The brand has become a celebrity favorite, with its barebones and sustainable footwear spotted on names by the likes of Ashton Kutcher and Helen Mirren.
The fresh new trio joins the vibrant Viva Magenta via Cariuma’s top-selling Oca Low silhouette, and is available in men’s and women’s sizes ranging from five to 13.
The Oca Low, priced at US$89, is handcrafted with durable canvas made from organic cotton, and a vegan cork insole with organic mamona oil and bio-memory foam for optimized comfort. Where plastic is required, Cariuma uses recycled products—lining its laces, labels, and threads with old plastic bottles. It also includes natural, raw rubber gathered from ethically “tapping” the Hevea brasiliensis tree.
Further honoring the earth, the shoemaker promises to plant two trees for every purchase of a pair of sneakers.
