By Mikelle Leow, 17 Mar 2023
It’s no secret that raising a pet takes a great deal of commitment—but the extent to which may catch you by surprise sometimes. Furkids can hear a piece of plastic crinkle from rooms away. In other words, your snack is their snack.
With Tax Day—which falls on April 18 this year—looming in,Kraft Singles is reminding human caregivers to pay their dues to their snack-demanding dogs with an all-new ‘Cheese Tax Pack’.
The limited-edition item might seem a little out of pocket, but it was in fact inspired by a song, called Cheese Tax, that went viral on TikTok. Here’s how it goes: “You gotta pay the cheese tax every time you’re cookin’; when the cheese comes out, this puppy comes lookin’.”
“The rules are the rules, and the facts, and when the cheese drawer opens you gotta pay the tax,” continues the singer, Matt Hobbs, who owns the Puppy Songs site.

In brief, it’s an unspoken rule that pet parents have to adhere to a snack “tax” and feed their pooches every time they take out the cheese.
The clip with the ridiculously dramatic banger has amassed 13.9 million views on TikTok, and its track has inspired thousands of videos by pet owners who relate with this issue.
Kraft Singles has got pawrents covered with a pack that reserves 15 cheese slices for humans, and one for the fur baby who’s howling to be paid 6.67% in munchable tax.
The box isn’t for sale, and it will only be available to lucky taxpayers who take part in Kraft Singles’ new social media sweepstakes.
