KitKat is all about taking well-deserved breaks, though it acknowledges that it hasn’t been consistent with this messaging all year round. That includes during the holy month of Ramadan, a time of reflection and self-discipline in which Muslims abstain from food between dawn and dusk—they break their fast at sundown.
In its commitment to inclusivity, Nestlé Canada is celebrating alongside Canadians who observe Ramadan and is recognizing the importance of breaking their fast at sunset by rolling out a KitKat ‘Iftar Bar’, named after the meal eaten at the end of the fasting period.
Rather than having only four pieces, the Iftar Bar brings 30 chocolate-coated wafers to the table, with one snack to be enjoyed every evening when it is time for your feast. The candy bar also serves as a reminder for all-day fasters to take a break right away at sundown.
The Iftar Bar is neatly split into three parts of 10 pieces, which is also significant. The sections represent the three Ashras (stages) of Ramadan, each lasting 10 days.
Although the bars are created to honor the broad Muslim community, they’re, unfortunately, not for sale. Instead, the Iftar Bars are being offered up at giveaways held by KitKat’s partnering Muslim content creators.
