Aside from coming up with a “label of truth” to help customers spot the real Heinz ketchup from imposters, the condiment brand recently invented a solution to an age-old problem that’s plagued sauce fans all over the world: how to get everything out of the bottle.
The solution? A special Heinz Ketch-Up & Down bottle with lids on opposing ends, so that no matter which way the product is stored, ketchup enthusiasts can make the most of every last drop. This invention ups the ante on the first upside-down bottle the brand debuted in 2010.
According to Heinz, the innovative concept was dreamed up with a team that spent time studying fans’ preferences, quickly coming to the realization that every customer has their own preferences.
Some tended to give their ketchup bottles a hard squeeze, while others preferred to get the sauce out by shaking it like a maraca. Storing the item was an even more complicated matter, with certain customers placing it upright, upside down, or even setting it on its side.
“Building on the success of our upside-down bottle which we released in 2010, we saw an opportunity to solve a problem that many of our fans face. If scaled up, it could be game-changing for ketchup lovers,” quipped Head of Marketing, Passant El Ghannam.
While it appears the Ketch-Up & Down Bottle remains at the concept stage for now, if customers show an eager response, they may see these quirky-looking bottles line grocery store shelves soon enough.
