YouTube’s ‘Lofi Girl’ Goes Missing With Hints Pointing At Mysterious Blue Window
By Alexa Heah, 11 Apr 2023
Last year, fans of Jade—better known as the ‘Lofi Girl’—were sent into a frenzy when the character suddenly disappeared from YouTube. Turns out, the relaxing companion had fallen victim to false copyright strikes. The site reinstated her to her rightful place just days later.
Now, it appears the animated figure has vanished once again. Though, this time, the soothing soundtrack still continues to play, just that the girl and her cat no longer sit in front of the iconic open window.
I’ve always wondered what's behind this blue window… What do you think? ð¤ pic.twitter.com/MvyyXddn7H

Instead, the video is slowly zooming in on a mysterious window in the opposite building, which seems to be emitting blue light. Sleuthy fans figured out that the light was blinking a Morse code message that pointed to a particular website.
Though it doesn’t seem like the site is telling the whole story. Upon clicking the ‘launch’ button, users get redirected to a second stream that’s playing similar ambient music. The only clue within the blue-filled room is a clock that counts down to April 11.
According to a press release by the owners of Lofi Girl, the countdown points to a special reveal that “is set to take the music and streaming industry by storm,” teasing a surprise announcement that will create buzz among “music and relaxation enthusiasts worldwide.”
While not exactly forthcoming with the details, the company promised “an immersive experience” that will bring listeners “even closer to the magic of Lofi Girl,” which it’s confident will take the popular YouTube channel—with over 12 million subscribers—to even greater heights.
What will happen to the famed Lofi Girl who’s kept many a student and worker company during long hours burning the midnight oil? Guess fans will find out soon enough.
The download is finally complete! ð
