TikTok’s Wholesome Wes Anderson Challenge Is Making People Swoon

Wes Anderson films prove that beauty can be found in the mundanities of this world. Needless to say, the movies have compelled many to pursue the same magic with warm hues and tidily-framed shots. The latest fans to channel their inner Andersons? TikTokers.
The social network has sparked countless video challenges, but the Wes Anderson-inspired trend might be one of the most delightful that the platform has to offer. TikTok users are now creating dialogue-free shorts of their lives using little more than their smartphones, wonderfully taking on the sea of day-in-life vlogs.
The light-hearted challenge appears to have started with user Ava Williams, who had just returned to New York after visiting her parents, and wanted to memorialize the train ride back in a meaningful way. As she’d just watched The French Dispatch with her family the night before, Williams decided to capture her moody return home in the dreamy, pastel-rich style, she tells Newsweek.

Since then, Williams’ video has been the catalyst for numerous other well-composed, Wes Anderson-themed clips. Unsurprisingly, the content-creating generation has nailed the aesthetic perfectly, not forgetting to include title cards in between scenes as well.
