LEGO Makes Star-Lord’s Helmet Functional On Earth, Doubling Set As A Pen Holder
By Mikelle Leow, 03 May 2023
Peter Quill listens to music on a Sony Walkman in space, so it makes sense that he may be getting by with other earthly possessions, as well.
As you’ve seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers movies, Star-Lord wears a partial helmet to protect himself in battle. That level of combat isn’t common on Earth, meaning that the headgear could only be ornamental back on his home planet. LEGO’s Star-Lord Helmet build, however, gives it a rather down-to-earth yet amusing purpose: the sculpture doubles as an informal storage unit for knick-knacks.
In photos presenting the 602-piece set, Star-Lord’s Helmet is shown with an open top, which is very much in line with the expanding helmet in Marvel lore. Interestingly, that cavity has been reimagined to create a pen pot for us mere mortals, whose day-to-day adventures are restricted to our desks.
Elsewhere, the mask/stationery stand looks pretty accurate to the helmet in the films, but it’s only seven inches tall, so unless you’re Rocket Raccoon or Ant-Man, you can’t actually wear it. Pens, erasers, and rulers it is, then—still something to write home about.
Wait a minute—is this just a pun for Peter Quill?
Anyhow, the intricate LEGO kit is designed for adult builders ages 18 and up, with a price of US$79.99. To craft your own Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can check out LEGO’s other Avengers-themed items here.
