While there’s nothing better than soaking in the sights and sounds of nature in the great outdoors, setting up camp in the wilderness is oftentimes a major hassle. No one likes hauling tons of heavy, bulky camping furniture to a site only to disassemble everything on the way back.
As such, Oru Kayak, a watercraft company that first rose to fame when it launched an origami kayak back in 2012, has decided to step out of the water onto land with its new launch: an entire line of camping flatpack camping furniture that can be transported conveniently.
The multifunctional tables and chairs are all made from a single piece of double-walled, custom-extruded Oruplast polypropylene, which the firm claims can be set up and broken down in under 30 seconds.
Campers can choose from the large, height-adjustable SwitchTable, the versatile FlipCube stools that can be transformed into a storage box, chair, bench, or side table, and PopLounge chairs which feature cleverly-hidden storage compartments.
Despite it being pre-folded and flat-packed, the furniture boasts incredible durability. According to New Atlas, the SwitchTable can hold up to 400 lbs of weight, many times the typical 100- to 200-lb maximums other folding camping tables offer.
Not to mention, Oru Kayak’s chairs come with “living hinges” that help to distribute one’s weight evenly across the stool and have been tested for 20,000 folds, so there’s no chance of anyone falling over even when on uneven terrain.
Those interested in learning more about the launch can visit the company’s website. Its Kickstarter campaign is set to begin on May 9, 2023. The SwitchTable is expected to go on sale for US$200, while the FlipCube will cost US$75, and the PopLounge will cost US$150.
