These Plant-Based Cheeseburger Sneakers Dish Up Seriously ‘Fast’ Food
By Alexa Heah, 10 May 2023
To celebrate the launch of its new Future Burger 4.0, plant-based fast food chain Future Farm is calling on fans to strap on some sizzling sneakers—in the form of one-of-a-kind running shoes designed to look just like a cheeseburger.
Fair warning: it’s best not to don these kicks when one’s feeling hungry, as the realistic custom-made sneaker by celebrity sneaker expert MattB Customs certainly looks similar to the real thing, just with an eco-friendly, vegan twist.
Dubbed the ‘Force of Nature’, the custom shoes used the carbon-neutral Hylo sneaker as its base, coated with Arteza Gouache vegan paints to create the lifelike image of a meat-free cheeseburger, complete with tomatoes and lettuce.
The designer told Totally Vegan Buzz the project was a perfect example of how customization could bring together two aspects of life that wouldn’t usually be seen together—like sneakers and cheeseburgers.
He wanted to create a product that was “mouth-watering and illusive,” so one would want to take a bite out of it, while still housing the design within a functional running shoe that could be worn out and about.
Looking to snag a pair? There are only two editions in existence, the first of which will be sold on eBay to raise funds for the Rainforest Alliance, while the other will be given away in a raffle on Future Farm’s Instagram.
