Qantas Now Lets You Book ‘Neighbor-Free’ Seats For A Peaceful Flight
By Nicole Rodrigues, 25 May 2023

Australia’s Qantas Airlines has devised a new way to tackle the discomfort of sitting next to a stranger during your flight, with the chance to travel ‘Neighbor Free’.
This new option guarantees you increased privacy and allows you to stretch out and make yourself a little more comfortable in the air. No more awkward small talk or worrying about personal space.
Previously, this exclusive perk was limited to frequent flyer program members. However, Qantas is now shaking things up by opening it up to the general public for a mere AUD$30 (US$19.60).
To secure your ‘Neighbor Free’ seat, you can purchase it anytime between 48 hours and one hour before your departure. Then, Qantas will send you an email confirming your eligibility. Just bear in mind that the airline reserves the right to make changes based on operational, capacity, safety, or security requirements. Rest assured, if your paid-for seat happens to be occupied, you’ll be promptly refunded.

Upon receiving your boarding pass, you’ll notice your original seat and the extra seat marked. All you need to do is check in as usual and get ready to enjoy the flight. It’s worth noting that this does not entitle you to extra baggage or provide storage space for your belongings or little ones.
While Qantas offers this program on select domestic flights throughout Australia, unfortunately, it’s unavailable on busy routes from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
Qantas isn’t the only airline to introduce such a concept. Etihad, Eurowings, and Sri Lankan Airlines have dabbled in similar programs.
