Panda Oreos Are Too Unbearably Cute To Eat, Gain True Colors When Dunked In Milk
By Mikelle Leow, 30 May 2023
Oreo is shifting the spotlight to another black-and-white icon on its cookies: the panda!
These special snacks, now rolling out in Japan, are fronted by adorable panda imagery on the packaging. Here, one of the gentle creatures is seen clutching a bamboo stalk—which reminds us, did you know Oreos are plant-based? Don’t feed them to your favorite herbivorous bear, though.
But the crème de la crème is what’s inside the packaging. You’ll find eight fun packs of three cookies, with each one embossed with a design of a bear captured mid-activity.
The cute pandas are depicted napping on their bellies, embracing an Oreo, seated in a zen pose, painting, playing a board game, and even flashing their tushies to the eater.
The wrappers themselves are stamped with assorted illustrations. That’s a lot of character for a teatime snack.
According to Oreo maker Mondelez Japan, this is the first time in the country that the famous engraving in Oreos is being stamped out with different patterns.

As it seems, the panda-themed cookies were first launched in China, and they’ve now migrated to Japan.
For best results, the brand recommends dunking the patterns in milk, which fills the crevices and turns the characters black and white.
