Emirates Pops Open A Bottle Of Vintage Chandon For Premium Economy Flights
By Nicole Rodrigues, 31 May 2023
One of the downsides of sitting back in Economy—or even Premium Economy—is hearing the distant ‘pop’ of a bottle up in First and Business as passengers get served a welcome flute of champagne.
Not anymore! Emirates is elevating the Premium Economy experience for its passengers by offering a glass of sparkling wine on future flights.
The Chandon Vintage Brut 2016 comprises grapes from Strathbogie and King Valley in the Victorian Mountains of Australia. Incidentally, the 2016 wine is the first by Chandon Australia since 1986.
The airline carrier describes the wine blend as 50% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay, and 5% Meunier. It has notes of lime and green apple, with hazelnut praline, biscuit, and fresh dough to give it a little extra body.
The interim class was first offered in late 2020 as a complimentary upgrade to flyers as it waited until it had enough of its A380 fleet offering the service before it began selling it.
Currently, the sparkling wine will be served on flights to New York, San Francisco, London, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, and Melbourne.
