‘Web Roulette’ Is A Browser That Instantly Cycles Through Your Favorite Sites
Short-form media has taken the internet by storm ever since TikTok began to rise as one of the more preferred platforms for content viewing and even as a search engine. Many other sites have tried to replicate the formula the bite-sized video platform has gotten down with their versions of short videos moving in an endless cycle of media consumption.
The concept might work better for photos and videos, but it seems like web browsers are also eyeing to jump onto the trend. Impending, the developer behind the game Heads Up and to-do list app Clear, has devised a new way for people to get in their daily dose of current affairs with Web Roulette.
As the name suggests, the browser will let you quickly sift through your favorite websites, much like watching videos on TikTok. Only this time, you’ll get to scroll around on sites like the New York Times and read through the news before rotating to a different publication.
When you first get onto the app, you can select your websites from technology, news, lifestyle, fashion, gaming, business, and more categories. If the pages you like to visit daily aren’t there, you can add them manually to your roster. Once done, the app shifts into a more focused view with just the first webpage on the list in sight, and you can then swipe left or right to move to different sites. You can also randomize the pages on shuffle like on a music streaming platforms, only this time, it’s to keep your daily news fresh.
You can still access different areas of sites regularly, tapping on links and stories as you usually would. Web Roulette’s primary function is to make browsing through the pages you regularly visit more seamless than when you probably had to go into your bookmarks to fish out these sites.
The app is currently free to download on the iOS App Store.
So the new app idea is called Web Roulette and the premise is a simple browser built for mindlessly checking the internet.
