Range Rover’s Latest SUV Comes With Seats That Vibrate To The Music
By Nicole Rodrigues, 01 Jun 2023
Car sound systems have significantly improved over the years to deliver the ultimate listening experience as you get yourself to work, but none are doing it quite like the Jaguar Land Rover that will let you feel every beat of the music.
The Range Rover SV Edition One is not just setting an immersive atmosphere with its speakers; it’s also roping in your seat to get the job done. The new ‘Body and Soul Seat’ (BASS) tech is powered up by Subpac, a tactile audio company from Canada, and implements haptic feedback through your seat.
These pulses are transmitted by a membrane and transducers placed within the seat. So whether you’re taking it slow with classical music or revving it up with rap, drivers and passengers alike can feel each rhythmic thump and beat of the tune.
Jaguar Land Rover and Subpac go as far as to claim that the haptic vibrations aren’t just a fun way to experience music, but they can also improve your health. It is said to aid in relaxing its occupants, helping relieve stress and lowering heart rate. BASS influences a person’s heart rate variability (HRV). This is the moment between heartbeats; the higher the HRV, the more relaxed the person is.
A 1,430-watt 29-speaker Meridian audio set and subwoofer accompany the rest of the sound system.
If this is what you’re looking for in your next SUV, you might be a little out of luck. The vehicle is already sold out for its first year, but you can register here to keep your eye out for others in the range, and there might be a possibility that BASS will come to other models as well.
