Coors’ New Color-Changing Label Prevents Beer Bottles From Exploding In Freezers

Everyone’s had the experience of placing a bottle of beer or soda in the freezer in hopes of getting the beverage to cool down more quickly than it would in a regular refrigerator. But as soon as one forgets it’s still in there, there’s a high chance they’ll come back to a mess of “exploded” glass.
As such, beer brand Coors has come up with a special, color-changing logo on its bottles to help fans tell when the brew is cold enough to drink. To convey this, the company teamed up with creative agency Alma and photographer Ale Burset to capture several freezer “tragedies.”
Striking images of exploded beer bottles clumped together in a heap will make appearances in publications, including the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle, as well as on out-of-home advertisements in Chicago, Miami, Pittsburgh, and Reno.
The color-changing label is certainly an ingenious way to incorporate a smart tool into a product to make customers’ lives easier. The next time you chuck a bottle of Coors in the freezer for a quick cool-down, check if the mountain has turned blue, and you’ll know you have a perfect drink.
