Heinz Spices Up Its New Sauce Range With Faces Of Internet’s Most Iconic Memes
By Nicole Rodrigues, 14 Jun 2023
Heinz is diving into the vast meme archives of the internet and selecting some beloved classics to help launch its six latest flavors. Aptly named ‘Sauce Drops’, these flavors will make their debut in select restaurants nationwide, taking customers on a nostalgic meme-filled journey while granting the new lineup their own ‘15 Minutes of Flavor’.
To give these sauces an extra boost in popularity, Heinz has enlisted the support of several recognizable figures who have experienced their own fleeting moments of fame. Among them are Rebecca Black, the singer behind the viral sensation Friday from 2011; Kyle Craven, famously known as “Bad Luck Brian”; and William Hung, an unforgettable American Idol contestant.
Each personality will promote a specific flavor: Black Garlic Ranch, Yuzu Wasabi, and Bangin’ Brewery Mustard, respectively. Other flavors awaiting their own iconic meme ambassadors include Creamy Chimichurri, Hatch Chile Ranch, and Harissa Aioli.
“Taking a page from the popular ‘drop culture,’ these Sauce Drops allow us to push portfolio boundaries with explorative flavors, while also allowing us to receive real-time fan feedback to inform what we bring to shelves nationwide,” said Associate Brand Manager Diane Mays Doty, in a statement.
The 15 Minutes of Flavor campaign was developed by The Kitchen, with Starcom’s Publicis 57 handling U.S. media and Zeno Group overseeing public relations and creators.
Heinz has been making waves with innovative promotions, from red tattoo inks to sauce mixing machines and engaging campaign spots showcasing the “irrational love of ketchup”.
