Disney Is Re-Releasing Nearly 30 Forgotten Shorts That Have Been Restored

It’s not a small world, after all—the Disney universe has come a long way, initiating fans into myriad stories that would form their core memories. Now, as it approaches its 100th anniversary, the company is reconnecting with its roots and celebrating the stars that started it all.
In the lead-up to its centennial birthday, the brand will unleash 28 classic, newly-restored Walt Disney Animation Studios shorts beginning Friday, July 7, onto Disney+.
The release will spotlight favorites like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip n’ Dale, and, notably, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit—the very first icon from the studio.
Fans can also look forward to catching forgotten and less-familiar titles, including the House of Mouse’s earliest theatrical works.
The shorts were remastered by Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Preservation team, who worked closely with creative advisors from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The series will begin with The Skeleton Dance (scene pictured above), Goofy Gymnastics, Figaro and Frankie, and three other animations, and will conclude with Chips Ahoy (1956), starring Donald Duck and “his chipmunk rivals,” ahead of the company’s 100th anniversary on October 16.
