Vespa and Disney are animating roads with a special scooter embodying characteristics of Mickey Mouse, in time for the entertainment giant’s 100th anniversary.
For the special occasion, the Primavera is dressed up in the beloved character’s colors of black, red, white, and yellow.
Riders can make any place the Happiest Place on Earth by donning the matching Mickey Mouse-themed helmet during their journeys.
Disney’s unyielding conviction to keep on dreaming helped inform the design of the tribute Primavera, according to Michele Colaninno, chief executive of global strategy, product, marketing, and innovation of the Piaggio Group, Vespa’s parent firm.
“Dreams allow us to look to the future with optimism, even in complex times such as these… [and] Vespa could not fail to celebrate, on this very special occasion of Disney’s 100th Anniversary, an equally everlasting icon like Mickey Mouse, with a tribute to creativity, imagination, light-heartedness, and fun—the very values that have always anchored Vespa. Today, as then,” says Colaninno.
Colaninno adds that the tie-in “represents the celebration of two historic companies that have a common dream: to allow everyone to express their imagination freely.”
The model will arrive in two engine types. The first (starting from US$4,699), a 49-cc single-cylinder variant, boasts three horsepower and 2.1 pound-feet of torque at 94 miles per gallon. Its heftier counterpart (from US$6,049) features a 155-cc single-cylinder engine with 12.5 horsepower, 7,750 rpm, and nine pound-feet of torque, for 87 miles per gallon.
