Android is about to bring out its A-game (with a capital ‘A’) with a new brand identity that will take full shape in the coming months, Google has confirmed.
Keen-eyed folks at 9to5Google have recently noticed the use of a different wordmark beginning with an uppercase ‘A’, which switches the script from the usual stylization of ‘android’ that the company has been using for years.
The new, secretive logo (published here) was spotted on a couple of advertisements for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Z Flip 4 that spotlighted Google-made apps. Alongside it is a 3D interpretation of Android’s famous robot head.
You can see it again, without the 3D head, in this screenshot of a new Android commercial.

The ‘n’ and ‘r’ are now rounded out entirely, borrowing the futuristic traits of a few of Android’s earlier logos.
Compare that with the current design:

According to the tech news outlet, Google first introduced the 3D heads at CES 2023. They also emerged at the Google I/O presentation in May.

Google has confirmed with 9to5Google that it is phasing in a “new brand identity.” What you see now is part of a soft launch, as the company is carefully introducing “some elements” of the branding across various mediums, including at its CES booth and in marketing materials.
The tech giant teases that all will be revealed in the upcoming months, so stay tuned.
