Those Adorable Comic Aliens From Instagram You Love Are Landing On Apple TV+

Earth to lifegivers and their offspring: Apple TV+ has announced the release date for Strange Planet, an upcoming animated series based on the curious universe dreamed up by Nathan W. Pyle.
Bearing the same title as the internet phenomenon and the resulting New York Times number-one bestselling graphic novel, Strange Planet will offer a “hilarious and perceptive look at a distant world not unlike our own,” Apple teases in the press release.
Since debuting in 2019, Pyle’s alien world has continually disarmed readers with its relatable blue beings who approach human rituals with unexpected perspectives. They begrudgingly dig into the crispy water bites that are “leafbuckets” (salads), commend their “offspring” on the waxy, “low-detail rendering of us,” and—like humans—fawn at the vibrating lap creatures (cats) that won’t budge when the moment they fits and sits.
“It selected my thighs,” one alien tells another. “I feel both physical and emotional warmth… it is not mine to distribute [onto your thighs].”

And when they want to show their affection for one another, they “mouth-push.”
Strange Planet will be set in “a whimsical world of cotton candy pinks and purples,” just like the comics, says Apple.

The television show is created by Pyle, alongside Dan Harmon; with Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Lori Tan Chinn, Danny Pudi, and Hannah Einbinder as showrunners; and Alex Bulkley as executive producer.
The series will land on Apple TV+ on August 9 and comprise 10 episodes, each set to release every Wednesday.
