Net-Like Rubber Wear Aids Patients In Unlocking The Path To Walking Again
By Nicole Rodrigues, 17 Jul 2023

Japanese-based company Futto presents a unique wearable rubber net-like gear designed to change how patients approach muscle relearning after injuries. This gear is meant to act as a supplementary boost and aid muscles by acting in place of weakened tendons.
The heart of the design lies in its simplicity and functionality. The device comprises an abdominal belt and four rubber straps, with two on each leg. The front strap securely hooks under the toes, while the back strap provides steadfast support to the sole of the feet. As the bands are worn, they act like muscles and contract and expand as one walks around, assisting in the relearning of essential motor skills.

Futto’s impact is not limited to aiding walking; it extends to posture correction and lower limb stabilization. By applying gentle pressure to the abdomen, this gear encourages users to maintain a straightened posture while walking, promoting overall body alignment.
As for its appearance, the gear looks a little like a harness or a large net stretching down your legs. That said, Futto is best worn outside leggings or pants, allowing it to function optimally without compromising your comfort or style. Though unconventional in its looks, the gear’s potential benefits for injury recovery and post-incident rehabilitation could prove worth the few stares you might receive.

It should be noted that it does not replace proper rehabilitation care, and one would still need to be under the supervision of a physician while using the gear.
Futto tips the scales at a mere 280 grams, allowing for prolonged usage, and it also ensures that it doesn’t add extra stress onto a patient’s body.
