LEGO Debuts 4,803-Piece ‘Harry Potter’ Gringotts Bank With An Underground Mine 

LEGO has just released a massive Harry Potter set dedicated to the Wizarding World’s only bank, Gringotts.

As many Potterheads might know, Gringotts plays a central role in the series’ first and final books and films. It’s stylized in the movies as a large white building that sits a little off-kilter in Diagon Alley. We first encountered the goblin-run institution in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Here, Hagrid and Harry travel down into the belly of the bank via a mine cart on a series of twisting and spiraling tracks to visit vault 713, where the magical stone is.

The set may not be as large and imposing as the bank itself, but it stays as faithful to the movie as it possibly can while made of plastic bricks. That includes its slanted exterior, an interior with tall desks for the provided Griphook, Bogrod, and Ricbert, minifigs to sit at, and a spiraling underground where you can take a mine cart into the labyrinth of vaults beneath. It even has the Magical Menagerie attached to it back up top.

This model boasts an impressive 4,803 pieces and features thirteen minifigs, including Ron and Hermione dressed as Dragomir Despard and Bellatrix Lestrange from the last movie.

Not only that, but in one of the final moments of the bank, the trio unleashes an enormous Ukrainian Ironbelly Dragon that has been guarding Bellatrix’s vault. During the battle, the dragon destroys most of the interior as it escapes through the underground and finally perches itself right on top of the building, roaring and belting fire into the sky. Now, you can recreate the entire scene (fiery dragon included) right in your own living room.

That said, it’s a wonder how this kit can stay sturdy with a top-heavy upper half, especially once you place the creature on top. If it’s anyone’s guess, it might just be magic.

Gringotts is meant to be the final piece to the previously-released Diagon Alley set from 2020, which comes with Ollivanders Wand Shop, Quality Quidditch Supplies, the Daily Prophet Office, Scribbles Writing Implements, Florean Forescue’s Ice Cream Parlour, Flourish & Blotts and, of course, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition is currently retailing for US$429.99.

Elsewhere in the LEGO Harry Potter universe, a nearly 3,000-piece model of Hogwarts has just been released.
