In a fusion of art and technology, MAD Paris and Casablanca have teamed up to reimagine the iconic Contax G2 camera. The result is a device that showcases the two brands’ unique design aesthetics.
The Contax G2, originally crafted in Japan, gained popularity between the years 1996 and 2005 as it featured novel technology, including a 35mm autofocus, a four-frame-per-second integrated motor drive, and a Carl Zeiss Planar 45mm f/2 lens. With its ergonomic design and performance, the Contax G2 remains highly regarded, even by today’s standards.
Japanese artisans from MAD Paris and Casablanca have now given this classic camera a mod-inspired makeover. The collaboration features primary color color-blocking to its body and Casablanca’s diamond logo branding.
The setincludes the Contax G2 body, the Carl Zeiss Planar 45mm f/2 lens, a CR123A battery, a comfortable neck strap, and a Superia Premium 400 film roll. With its dimensions measuring approximately 5.5” x 3.2” x 1.8”, the camera is constructed using a combination of plastic, aluminum, and glass materials.
Initially manufactured in Japan, this customized edition has been made in the UK to create a limited-edition masterpiece. It is available exclusively on casablancaparis.com, and orders will be dispatched directly from the UK, for a retail price of US$8,300.
