Apple Could Move iPhone’s End Call Button, Making Hanging Up A Little Confusing
By Alexa Heah, 10 Aug 2023

With every big software update comes exciting changes. And while Apple has yet to officially roll out iOS 17 to smartphones across the globe, sneak peeks have given iPhone users much to look forward to.
For example, the upcoming update will allow users to clone their voices in just minutes or make use of a “visual look up” function that will decode confusing vehicle symbols on the go.
Now, another change is coming, though it may not be as well received as the aforementioned features. According to Gizmodo, the latest iOS 17 beta shows that the “end” call button has shrunk and shifted.
Wait, what? Yup, it appears that iPhone users who have tested out beta 5 have reported that the large, red “end call” button found at the bottom of one’s screen during a call has been shifted to the bottom right-hand corner.
Apple's iOS 17 beta 5 tweaks the end call button's position, shifting it to the bottom right corner. Some users fear accidental taps on other buttons. Will this design stick? Wait for the official iOS 17 release this September. #iOS17 #Apple #UserExperience pic.twitter.com/OOPIgOo5J2

It’s also smaller than before, and due to its less prominent location, there’s a high chance many people will inadvertently hit the keypad or FaceTime buttons by mistake when the switch first rolls out.
Though it’s important to note that not all updates seen in iOS trials stick around for the actual launch. Previously, as CNBC pointed out, the iOS 15 beta moved Safari’s browser bar from the top to the bottom of the display but was moved back at the time of release.
Will Apple end up placing the “end” call button back front and center where we’ve all grown accustomed? Or will iPhone users have to rewire their brands (and fingers) to one of the most significant changes to making a phone call in years? We’ll soon find out.
Apple is changing where the end call button is and we already hate it
