Rolls-Royce Unveils ‘Dark’ & ‘Dramatic’ Two-Seater That Appears To Change Colors

Rolls-Royce recently unveiled the stunning La Rose Noire Droptail, a coach-built masterpiece that’s the first of four exclusive client commissions.

Drawing on the theme of “romance,” the two-seater was inspired by the allure of the Black Baccara rose, an intense and velvety flower originating from France.

Upon first look at the car, its exterior—finished in a captivating ‘True Love’ red—seems to shift and change in different lighting conditions.

To achieve this effect, the automaker’s engineers came up with an innovative paint process involving multiple layers of clear lacquer, using various tones of red to echo the color-changing properties of the aforementioned rose.

Naturally, this attention to detail extends to the interior of the vehicle, where an intricate parquetry pattern features throughout.

The pattern, resembling falling rose petals, consists of meticulously arranged wood veneer triangles. This complex design, which was hand-finished, required nearly two years of development and experimentation to complete.

That’s not all. The vehicle features a specially-made timepiece by Audemars Piguet in the form of a 43mm Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date.

Perfectly complementing La Rose Noire’s color scheme with its red counters and inner bezel, the watch is designed to be both mounted in the motor car and detachable, serving as a wearable accessory.
