Samsung Tries To Win Apple Users Over By Transforming 2 iPhones Into A Foldable

It could be a while before Apple finally debuts a foldable iPhone, but that doesn’t mean users should be deprived of a look and feel. Interestingly enough, Samsung has just the thing to scratch that itch—or perhaps even sway your affections while its rival bides its time.

Instead of visiting a Samsung retailer, smartphone owners can now test-drive a Samsung foldable with what they have on hand. That includes iPhone loyalists, as the South Korean tech giant shares it has now updated its Try Galaxy web browser-based app to include simulations of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the One UI 5.1.1 for non-Android users.

To build a surrogate Galaxy Z Fold 5 from home, Samsung asks that you take—surprise, surprise—two iPhones and put them right next to each other. To launch the experience, you visit trygalaxy.com on Safari, which lets you access apps and widgets via the two connected Apple devices to replicate the feel of holding a single Galaxy model.

The faux-dable experience includes an emulation of FlexCam mode in the Flip 5 and Fold 5, where you can try capturing selfies “in a variety of creative angles” using an extended screen.

Visitors can also experiment with viewing video content on a more immersive screen, as well as have a go at the foldable’s multitasking capabilities by moving content about and playing with drag and drop.

And speaking of play, there’s even a mini-game tucked inside so you can experience a round of air hockey between two screens.

These surface-level features might not be enough to woo long-time iPhone owners over to the flip side, but if you’re somehow already convinced, a Galaxy Z Fold 5 will set you back US$1,799.
