Self-Charging Speaker Harnesses Light To Belt Out Tunes All Day Long

Sweden-based lifestyle brand Urbanista is introducing the ‘Malibu’, a novel wireless Bluetooth speaker with a cheery twist: it’s powered by the sun. Harnessing Powerfoyle solar cell technology, which the company calls “the world’s first solar-charging wireless speaker.”
The Malibu can charge up under natural and indoor lighting, ensuring that it’s not just a summer-only gadget but can take you through dark wintery days when the sun is in hiding.
Once fully juiced up, it’s good to go for an entire day of use. And, if it is under constant light, the battery will not deplete.
Urbanista’s eco-friendly ethos continues as it comprises recycled plastics and materials. It boasts waterproof resilience, a nifty IP67 dust and dirt defense, plus an integrated lanyard for portability.
In terms of sound, it delivers a solid 10W per channel. And if you’re in the mood for more sonic oomph, connect it to multiple units for a stereo-link function.
For those who like a little audio customization, an integrated app is at your service. Here, you can fine-tune the EQ settings and keep tabs on available power.
The Malibu wireless speaker is set to hit the market in September with a price tag of US$150, available in gray and black variations.
