It’s safe to say that pretty much no one has ever thought to grab a knife and fork to dig into a bucket of KFC chicken. When it comes to having a meal from the fast-food chain, cutlery is often left in the kitchen, and to that, KFC Canada is sending its deepest apologies to all the forgotten utensils.
Sorry Utensils, directed by Henry Schofield and spearheaded by creative agency Courage, is a new campaign spot that champions what most already knew about the brand: it’s “finger lickin’ good.” So much so that cutlery is probably the last thing on your mind when digging in.
Set to Air Supply’s iconic All Out of Love, KFC is about all out of love for forks and knives as the video shows various people ditching social graces and tableware in favor of their hands and fingers.
“Our deepest apologies to the utensils out there. Our crispy, golden, Finger Lickin’ Good chicken is in better hands. Literally,” KFC says unapologetically.
According to LBB Online, Courage’s co-founder Joel Holtby noted that, as one of the most famous taglines in the world, working on ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ was exciting yet “intimidating.” With decades of advertisingg endeavors centered around it, Sorry Utensils aims to be a fresh take on the iconic slogan.
