As summer fades, pumpkin spice latte season will soon be upon us, and that means everything is spiced out and decked out in creamy pumpkin flavor. Starbucks has been at the forefront of the so-called PSL movement, and this year, it’s marking its 20th anniversary of the drink.
PSL saw its first autumnal season in 2003 when Starbucks fans (and pumpkin lovers) were treated to the original Pumpkin Spice Latte, which is made up of Starbucks Signature Espresso, steamed milk, and pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove flavorings. It’s topped off with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices.
As the seasons carried on, the drink garnered a cult following and became one of fall’s hallmarks, along with red leaves, apple orchards, and Halloween.
Starting August 24, the chain’s fall menu will be back in full swing, which includes the original drink and a few new additions to the family, such as Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte. The latter was inspired by a popular barista customization that combines chai latte, spiced notes, pumpkin cream cold foam, and pumpkin spice.
And if you’re looking to munch on something, there will be a new Baked Apple Croissant.
Fan favorites such as the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato are also making a much-anticipated comeback on the seasonal menu.
Additionally, if you’re want to add an extra kick to your PSL adventure, Starbucks Reserve outlets across the United States will now have the opportunity to savor the novelty of ordering a Starbucks Reserve Pumpkin Spice Latte, a Pumpkin Spice Whiskey Barrel-Aged Iced Latte, and even indulge in Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martinis.
So mark your calendar, folks. PSL and fall are back in session.
