Tissot Makes A Funky Tribute To 70s Aesthetic With Retro Digital Watch
By Nicole Rodrigues, 30 Aug 2023
Since its debut in 2021, the Tissot PRX line has emerged as a favorite among budget-conscious watch enthusiasts, offering a mix of affordability and design.
The PRX line is known for its versatility, presenting a diverse array of sizes, materials, colors, and movement choices. This year, Tissot introduces the PRX Digital collection, a fresh interpretation of the PRX silhouette, drawing inspiration from the brand’s heritage and the groovy aesthetic of the ’70s.
Available in 35mm and 40mm sizes, the PRX Digital watches feature stainless steel and gold-tone cases. Clean lines, polished chamfers, brushed planes, and elevated polished bezels characterize the cases.
Unlike their three-hand counterparts, the PRX Digital watches forgo traditional crowns in favor of polished buttons positioned at two o’clock, four o’clock, and 10 o’clock.
Beneath the PRX Digital ticks the Swiss-made DGT-2040 digital quartz movement, known for its reliability and precision. It also has a solid case back, giving wearers 328 feet of water resistance. These watches arrive with integrated bracelets that echo the case’s design, featuring brushed surfaces, polished chamfers, and smoothly tapering forms.
The brand has incorporated various features within this timepiece, such as a secondary time zone, a day-date display, a chronograph, a countdown timer, and a daily alarm.
The juxtaposition of a rectangular LCD display within a round dial harkens back to the aesthetics of early digital watches.
For those keen on owning a piece of this nostalgia-driven collection, the Tissot PRX Digital is accessible through authorized dealers. The stainless steel models are priced at US$375, while the gold-tone iterations command a slightly higher price point at US$450.
