Customers strolling through IKEA’s Downtown Toronto location may come across a showroom that’s not quite like the others. Instead of being filled with the retailer’s latest furniture options, home décor, or gadgets, it’s completely empty.
Aptly titled theEmpty Showroom, this special stunt was an idea conceptualized by creative agency Rethink to invite customers to try their hand at building their own dream rooms by using the brand’s Kreativ artificial intelligence design tool.
Winners of the competition are entitled to a US$2,500 IKEA gift card so they can recreate the space in real life. Each design, which can be uploaded onto Instagram tagged #IKEAKreativContestToronto must make use of at least five of the Swedish company’s products.
@blogto Wondering why IKEA’s latest showroom is empty? It’s to promote their AI-powered design tool called Kreativ in the IKEA app. When entering their contest make sure your design uses at least 5 IKEA products, Instagram profile is public, you're an IKEA Family member, and don't forget to hashtag and tag @IKEACanada #IKEAKreativContestToronto#IKEAInspo. Winner will be chosen by random draw and contacted through Instagram by Sept 8. For the unfamiliar, IKEA Kreativ enables shoppers to digitally customize any living space. Using spatial computing, machine learning, and 3D mixed-reality technologies, the app visualizes how the perfect room would look in reality anywhere, at any time.
Jonelle Ricketts, head of marketing at IKEA Canada, told LBB Online that with showrooms being such an integral part of the brand’s shopping experience, seeing a bare room would stop individuals “in their tracks and inspire them to discover the endless possibilities they have at their fingertips with IKEA Kreativ.”
The Empty Showroom contest will run till September 4, 2023.
