Coors Light Turns Infamous Glitch Into Limited-Edition Packaging Design
By Alexa Heah, 07 Sep 2023
Back in August, Major League Baseball (MLB) star Shohei Ohtani made headlines when a ball he hit ended up colliding with an LED billboard in the stadium. The display, which was advertising Coors Light, immediately saw a section of its light panels go dark.
Now, to commemorate this viral moment, the beer brand is responding to fan requests by launching a special-edition can inspired by the powerful hit. Upon first look, the packaging design may not look too different from the usual ones found in a grocery store.
However, peer closer, and you’ll see a black square of dead pixels at the top left-hand corner of the beverage’s recognizable logo.
To make things even more special, the brand made the limited-edition drink available at Ohtani’s first home game back in Southern California with additional signages that perfectly replicated the partially destroyed advertisement.
The limited release sold out quickly.
