British luxury automaker Lotus has unveiled its latest creation—the Emeya, billed as one of the fastest fully-electric vehicles in the world.
To celebrate the new addition to the lineup, the brand has created an immersive experience known as Studio Emeya for fans to explore its storied 75-year history.
Developed in collaboration with VCCP London, the unique exhibition spans four floors of a New York City parking structure and offers an exclusive look into the creation of the new vehicle.
The experience delves into the manufacturer’s origins, showcasing iconic models like the Lotus Mk6, Lotus 72, and Lotus Esprit Turbo, all set against a backdrop of never-before-seen archival footage.
The immersive journey continues by dissecting Emeya’s creative conception, highlighting the vehicle’s key processes, components, and materials.
An impressive 360-degree theater provides an audio-visual experience that captures the essence of driving the car, featuring an exclusive music score by renowned musician Burial.
The climax of the exhibition, of course, is the grand reveal of the car, showcased within an installation designed in collaboration with David Curtis-Ring.
Visitors will follow a corridor of light that leads to a glimpse of the future, with the vehicle reflected in a monolith illuminated by moving light, creating a captivating display of perpetual motion.
Emeya, designed to be a flagship model in Lotus’ lineup of luxury lifestyle electric vehicles, merges the carmaker’s engineering and design expertise with cutting-edge technology and performance innovations.
This includes advanced aerodynamics, a low center of gravity known as ‘Hyperstance,’ and an electronically controlled air suspension system that provides a smooth ride by adjusting to the road conditions.
In addition, the vehicle boasts a high-power dual motor setup that enables it to reach a top speed of over 155 mph and accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under 2.8 seconds, making it one of the world’s fastest electric grand tourers.
One of the ride’s standout features is its impressive charging capabilities. It can add 93 miles of range with just 18 minutes of charging using a 350kW DC fast charger, and it can boost its range by up to 80% in the same timeframe.
Lotus has also prioritized sustainability in the design, incorporating eco-friendly materials like repurposed fibers from the fashion industry, PVD aluminum, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.
Production for the Emeya is slated to begin in 2024, with further details expected to be released in Q4. Head here to find out more.
