The FoldiBox 2 is a food container that’s as minimal as it gets. Although reminiscent of things like paper airplanes, it’s no flight of fancy. With its charmingly flatpack, origami-like design, this lunchbox aims to make preparing, packing, and reheating meals a treat.

With eight neodymium magnets (NdFeB) built into its corners, the FoldiBox transforms a flat piece into a secure box in a single snap. Unlike the usual bento boxes, there are no buckles or latches.

The container is infused with IONPURE, a Japanese composition of antimicrobial Ag+ and silicone, to eliminate bacteria and unpleasant odors.

The FoldiBox 2 is microwave-safe, with the ability to heat up meals at up to 1000w.

The fact that it unfolds effortlessly like a single piece of cardboard means cleanup is also a breeze, allowing you to rinse off scraps and grease without much hassle. It’s also heat-resistant to 300℉, so you can throw it into the dishwasher on days you don’t feel like scrubbing. Not to mention, storage won’t be a problem since the lunchbox can be flattened completely.

From its name, you might have guessed that FoldiBox 2 is a successor to an older lunch box. The updated design includes add-on accessories for various applications, including dividers that let you stash multiple snacks without mixing flavors. There’s also a sauce cup with a vacuum seal, and, for picnic enthusiasts, a stylish waterproof nylon bag that wraps your lunch up into a portable dumpling of sorts.

In response to user feedback, FoldiBox’s creators have also introduced two distinct sizes, ensuring that whether you’re packing a hearty meal or a light snack, there’s something for you.

While the FoldiBox 2 is still in its Kickstarter phase, it’s already raised over US$180,000 from crowdfunders—attaining way more than its US$5,000 goal. You can find out more about the product here.
