In 1994, Mazda, the Japanese automaker, and Haribo, the famed candy brand, came together to fuel sweet-toothed drivers. It was the Mazda 121 Goldy, a candy-colored car serving a touch of whimsy from the iconic Goldbears gummies.
Only 1,000 of these eye-popping vehicles were ever produced with the help of automotive manufacturer Hofele Design. The foundation of the ‘Goldy’ was the classic 121 model, which was primarily available in Europe, Japan, and Australia. It sported a rounded, bubble-like silhouette that made it a wonderful candidate to embody the confections.
The Mazda 121 Goldy was a special treat reserved exclusively for the German market. Painted in a vivid ‘Pop Yellow’ colorway, this car not only wore its candy inspiration proudly but also featured the image of the Haribo mascot on its steering wheel, driving home the sweet connection.
Bear-themed wheel covers and a gummy bear print rear window shade helped deliver this sugar high, The Drive reports. It was a sweet ride through and through.
Drivers were indulged with not just the vehicle, but also 100 bags of Haribo candies. As if that weren’t enough, a cuddly Haribo teddy bear made the deal even sweeter.
