Mini ‘Dance Dance Revolution’ Cabinet Puts Fancy Footwork At Your Fingertips

In the late 90s, amid the neon lights and synthesized beats of Japanese arcades, a revolution was brewing. A Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), that is. The game was an electrifying fusion of rhythm and motion that altered the landscape of arcade gaming. As the game’s 25th anniversary dawns upon us, fans can find themselves once again tapping into the nostalgia that DDR evokes.
To commemorate this milestone, Zuiki has unveiled a pint-sized DDR machine that pays homage to the game that revolutionized arcades and brought music rhythm gaming to the forefront.
The Dance Dance Revolution Classic Mini is a detailed one-fifth-scale replica of the two-person arcade unit. It comes pre-loaded with three well-known DDR titles: the original Dance Dance Revolution, Dance Dance Revolution 2nd Mix, and Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix.
Unique to this mini version are the oversized gamepads that make up the “floor,” allowing players to use them either on a table or handheld.
The unit also offers compatibility with the Dance Dance Revolution Controller from Konami Amusement, and players can choose to play on its built-in LCD screen or connect it to a TV via HDMI. The arcade unit’s lights synchronize with the music for an authentic DDR experience.
Interested buyers can acquire the Dance Dance Revolution Classic Mini through a crowdfunding campaign hosted on Kibidango where it is priced at JP¥43,780 (approximately US$294). The campaign is set to run from October 10 to November 27, with consoles expected to ship in the coming summer.
