Microsoft has introduced a new reward for avid futurists… or skeptics of artificial intelligence.
Its new bug bounty program offers US$2,000 to US$15,000 to researchers around the world who can successfully identify vulnerabilities in the AI-powered Bing experience. Payouts are decided based on the severity of these discoveries across the Bing browser, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Start, and the Skype mobile app.
Participants are only eligible for the program if they find “critical or important” vulnerabilities that weren’t previously reported or that Microsoft was aware of. These include unknown techniques of “influencing and changing Bing’s chat behavior” for multiple users, and “revealing Bing’s internal workings and prompts.”
After sussing out these issues, users must also be able to clearly and concisely replicate them in writing or video.
Importantly, the initiative doesn’t give out rewards for provoking chat responses that are inaccurate or offensive. If you do uncover potentially abusive comments from the chatbot, the company urges you to file a report.
