Apple is taking a leaf out of the (activity) book of the New York Times with its own daily crossword puzzles, available to subscribers of Apple News+.
Each day, the tech giant debuts a brand-new crossword and a 5 x 5 mini version on the News app. The word game was rolled out together with the release of iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma, according to AppleInsider.
Similar to their NYT counterparts, Apple’s full-size crosswords are designed to get more challenging throughout the week, with the easiest version being released on Mondays and the most difficult being reserved for Sundays.

You will need to be an Apple News+ member to access this section. A subscription, compiling hundreds of magazines, newspapers, and content from digital publishers into one destination, will set you back US$9.99.
However, Apple says non-subscribers will be able to play a select few for free.
To locate the puzzles on your iPhone, open the News app and either tap on the Following or Today tab, then select Puzzles. On the Mac, click on Puzzles on the sidebar.
Note that Apple News, as well as the crosswords, isn’t accessible from all markets.
