LEGO Transports Fans To The World Of ‘Dune’ With New 1,369-Piece Set

Prepare to embark on an interstellar journey with the unveiling of a new LEGO set inspired by the iconic sci-fi world of Dune. This intricately designed creation, named the Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter build, is poised to transport Dune fans to the planet of Arrakis.
The Ornithopter is part of the Imperium’s fleet of flying machines. It is seen in the movie transporting the Atreides family away from their home on Caladan to Arrakis, where they were to be in charge of the spice planet.
The model comes with 1,369 pieces, and it’s aimed at adults. As such, the Ornithopter isn’t really made to be used as a toy and will probably do better as a display piece on your shelf.
That’s not to say you can’t reenact the movie’s landing scene in your living room if you so wish. Especially since the set also comes with eight distinct Minifigures, including Paul Atreides, Lady Jessica, Gurney Halleck, Chani, Leto Atreides, Liet Kynes, Duncan Idaho, and the formidable Baron Harkonnen. The Baron Harkonnen Minifigure stands out with a tall, clear stand and an elegantly long robe that seemingly creates the illusion of levitation.
Distinguishing this creation is the blades’ functionality, allowing for graceful folding to support a lifelike flapping motion. This flexibility lets you display the Ornithopter in both flight and landing modes. Moreover, the set includes deployable landing gear and a spacious cockpit capable of housing a minifigure, making it a prized addition for collectors.
The kit is set for release on February 1, 2024, just ahead of the Dune: Part Two release. Fans can find it online for US$164.99.
