LinkedIn Introduces Brand-New AI ‘Job Coach’ For Those Seeking A Career Change
By Alexa Heah, 02 Nov 2023
Previously, LinkedIn debuted an artificial intelligence tool to aid job seekers in crafting letter-like messages to employers on the platform. The model tapped into information from a user’s profile, the hiring manager’s profile, the job description, and the company of interest.
Now, premium users will receive more help in the form of a “job coach” chatbot, which will provide advice on available job opportunities—such as if a role is a potential fit, which skills to upgrade, or even offer an insight into companies within the chosen industry.
LinkedIn chief product officer Tomer Cohen told Quartz the tool, powered by OpenAI, was developed based on feedback received from candidates, who often dwell on questions including “Am I a good fit for the role?” or “How do I maximize my chance of getting it?”
In addition, a separate feature will allow users to generate summaries of posts on the site. These condensed lessons will be tweaked to include personalized advice tailored to the individual in question.
These rollouts come as the social network announced it surpassed one billion members. With over 65 million job seekers using the platform weekly and an average of 140 job applications submitted per second, perhaps AI will be what takes LinkedIn to the next level.
